Hi there! my name is Jay Stratemeyer. I was born and raised in Montana. As the owner of Missoula Software & Sales LLC, I have been a full-stack software engineer for nearly 20 years now. That mindset never really turns off — it just shifts mediums when I hang my hat for the day. Where software architecture demands logic and precision, song-writing invites emotion and imperfection. Both are forms of design. Both require structure. Both tell a story. Music has always been the counterbalance.
I enjoy playing acoustic guitar, the kind you can play at a campfire, while ideas turn into melodies and half-written thoughts become lyrics. I enjoy digging into music theory — not as rigid rules, but as a framework for expression. Chord progressions, modal shifts, subtle rhythmic changes — they’re tools for shaping feeling the same way clean code shapes function.
Campfire Guitar isn’t just a collection of recordings. It will soon be a place to share lyrics, explore theory, collaborate on songs, create tabs, scores, and build something communal around music that feels more organic.
